Home ownership is one of the key components to building sustained financial wealth for a family. In an effort to increase participation in the American dream of owning a home, Palmetto CAP’s Affordable Housing program builds and sells affordable housing for first-time homeowners who are income-eligible. The target population for this program is “Workforce Housing” where the houses may be purchased by families with incomes at 80% of median or below.
Subsidies may be available for qualified buyers. This program utilizes partnerships with the City of Charleston’s Department of Housing and Community Development, SC Community Loan Fund, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The Affordable Housing program also has limited subsidized rental units available throughout the Lowcountry for income-eligible families.
This department provides financial literacy classes, one-on-one budgeting sources, free VITA tax preparation and housing stability.
Learn MoreThe mission of this program is to increase self-sufficiency and develop strategies to ensure a better quality of life through employment and educational opportunities for both youth and adults.
