Palmetto CAP’s General Emergency Assistance Program has funding to help citizens in need of rent, medication food or other types of financial assistance. Income-eligible residents of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties who need financial assistance as a result of the flood have until Monday, November 9th to schedule an appointment to apply for assistance. After Monday, any remaining funds will be available to all citizens meeting program eligibility guidelines regardless of whether they were impacted by the flood. This department provides financial literacy classes, one-on-one budgeting sources, free VITA tax preparation and housing stability.
